Retailing in India registered substantial growth rate during the last decade mainly due to the entry of organized retailers in a big scale. Many changes have taken place in the retail business environment in the areas of supply chain, investments, market promotions, consumer habits and expectations and so on. Unlike the developed economies, Indian retailing is occupied largely by unorganized small scale retailers. The share of organized retailing is only about seven per cent in the country.
